PRODUCTION - INTRODUCTION
  • Since 1991, our trademark has been synonymous with an authentic, natural and transparent “crystal clear” sound quality. We capture the music exactly as it sounds in the space in which it is performed and we transport listeners into the recording venue, alongside the musicians.
PRODUCTION - APPROACH
  • Developed from the concept of an “acoustic photograph”, our approach is to take clear and precise “shots” of the performers using a refined variation of the age-old recording technique used to make wax cylinders at the turn of the previous century. The venue’s natural acoustics provide clues as to the optimal positioning of our “cameras” and we select the “lenses” that will best enable us to take a “group shot” of the musicians, without missing anyone.
  • We adjust the seating arrangement until all performers are equally in “focus” and tweak the “opening” of our “lenses” until our audible photographs have the greatest “depth of field” and the least “vignetting” (distortion around the edges). The music’s natural dynamic range is captured from the most minute pianissimo to the most explosive moments. Indeed, our aim is to put the listener “in the picture”, so to speak.
PRODUCTION - EQUIPMENT
  • Microphones: AMS Soundfield, Earthworks, Neumann and Schoeps.
  • Preamplifiers: Millennia Media.
  • Converters: Apogee and Prism.
